The Adventures of the Crash Test Princess has just opened up so everyone is free to participate! Nadia kicked it off with a post about her A-Line crash this weekend. Get it here.
"Have I ever done any sports that don't involve crashing?" I ask my dad, as we're discussing my athletic history in the context of this project. My dad's reply says a lot about how I got this way: "If they don't involve crashing, they aren't really sports, are they?"
A year and a half ago I was pretty normal, successful 25 year old American girl who had been an athlete in high school and part of college. Then I grew up and had better things to do, like work a lot. In September of 2008, after 8 months of bed rest from a debilitating illness which forced me to leave my job, I got healthy and decided several things: I wanted to be an athlete again, I wanted to have a lot of adventures outside everyday, and I wanted to do things anyway, even when they really scared me, because that’s when I had the most incredible experience living life.
Right about then I met this plumber named Jameson who told me about a sweet gig called “being a ski bum.” I was in, and began my adventures living my life as a Crash Test Princess. Last winter (2008-2009) I skied 80 days in Alaska, Whistler BC, and Washington state.
